Hi everyone, I'm having some difficulties with Capital One and just wondered whether anyone-else has had similar problems or if you can let me know whether all the charges they are applying to my account are legitimate?
Basically my hubbie has a CO credit card, not a great APR as credit rating isn't good, but the limit is £1500. He's had it over a year and although only paying minimum balance so far has always kept within the limit. The payment due on 28th December was not paid by the bank due to insufficient funds (post-Chrismas problems, still trying to work through them atm) so the payment to CO was returned. We should be able to make the payment (£65) next week but they are hounding us and now saying we owe £138 now plus £214.37 at the end of the month.
I can't work this out so I logged on this evening and this is what they have charged us:
Late payment fee - £12
Unpaid item fee - £12
Billed deferred finance (whatever that is?) - £33.50
Overlimit fee - £12
Repayment option plan (didn't know we had one) - £20.87
Interest - £55.76
making a total of £146.13 in charges for this period.
I know the T&C says about late payment and unpaid and of course the interest has to be applied but does anyone know what billed deferred finance is and a repayment option plan? Also, we've only gone over the limit now they've applied the charges.
Is it reasonable to ask them to accept the £65.38 payment next week (this is the amount that bounced at end of December) and then a further payment to bring the account back below the £1500 - currently stands at £1638.65 - so a further payment the following week of £73.27, or is there a better way of approaching this? They're fairly aggressive with contacting us - currently on both home and mobile phone up to 10 times a day, anytime from 8am through to 9.30pm which seems late to be calling to be honest.
