Spam Credit Card Letters

Hi all,

I keep getting these applications for credit cards like Aqua or some Barclays one sent in the post and I was wondering if there was any way to stop it? I don't even know how they got my information but I'd like to opt out of these annoying letters and if anyone knew what steps I should take, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks.

Using a card to pay off another card (with a twist!)

Hi all

I have a card lying round that I don't really use - It has 0% on balance trransfers for 18 months.

My brother has £400 on a credit card and the interest free period has run out. Rather than him getting another card (he's bloody useless with them!) could I transfer it to my card and he pay me?
I'm not sure, but I doubt I could transfer it to mine as it is different names (happy to be corrected though).
Could I pay the balance off using my card, sort of like an informal transfer?

Not really urgent or important. More a wondering than much else.

Thanks people :)

I was rejected for the 19 month 0% purchases card offering.
Never missed any payments and have 100k equity in the house. Too many current accounts perhaps? including one application going through atm.

Refused by Tesco, accepted by AMEX

Hello fellow readers
just a quick post to put my experience here as when i was applying for various credit cards in the past the posts here helped me as well.
Well, i applied for a tesco credit card about 2-3 months ago and they refused me straight away, i even appealed in writing and they refused that as well. The reason i applied for the tesco card is because i am sucker for points and rewards, so once they refused i waited for about a month and then applied for debenhams credit card and got approved £4000 straight away, after one week i applied for MBNA more rewards card and got accepted with £4500, after one week i looked for M&S credit card with £30 vouchers so applied for that one as well and got accepted with £4000, and after a week i applied for AMEX gold charge card and got accepted straight away as well. Now before i applied for tesco card, already had a barclaycard freedom with £3000 and santander123 card with £3500, a capital one with £1800 and first direct with £500. I have also got about £4000 of overdraft with barclays and first direct. So while everyone accepted my application even with in one week difference I am not sure why tesco refused it. Also the eligibility checker at MSE said my chances for getting a AMex card was 4/10 and M&S card 50%. I also got a noddle account and according to them my scores are 3/5 and i will struggle to get credit. So the scores on these sites and eligibility does not reflect the true results at all. Also i had a bad debt written in my credit file for default on amount of £2200 since 2009 as well.

Online company charging credit card after deleting payment details

I've been a GiffGaff user for a few years, but having decided to move on to EE, I stopped the Auto top-up on my account (it charges £10 credit on my account if the balance falls below £3) and also removed my payment details. Without my payment details, the site also won't let me turn Auto top-up back on so I thought I was safe.

This was back in October and this month, I got an email saying my account has been credited with £10 as the balance has gone below £3. I checked on GiffGaff again and sure enough I had £10 credit added, but there were still no payment details on my account nor was Auto top-up turned on. A few days later, I confirmed on my credit card statement I had been charged £10.

I have already contatced GiffGaff who I'm sure will sort this out, but I am absolutely livid that they can charge my credit card even after explicitly removing the payment details from their site. As they only offer PAYG and not contracts, they have no need to charge me at a later date for money due.

I feel this is must be against some financial or data protection regulation and want to know who else I can lodge a complaint with so GiffGaff don't sweep this under the carpet.

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has any idea of whether the cashback will be discontinued soon. I've had this card just over a year and it would be a shame for it to stop.

Anyone have any ideas on the subject.

0% Tesco Transfer Fee

Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know, the Free transfer fee for 0% balance transfers is only free if you are a new customer to Tesco Mastercard.
I was quite unhappy when I noticed I had been charged, so phoned Tesco, they were really good and deducted the fee as a goodwill gesture and the fact that I had no charges on my account.

lloyds tsb duo avios card interest?

Okay I have never had a credit card before and I only use this one sparingly on a normal basis and make sure it's repaid by the end of the month.

BUT I am lacking In the maths department and looking at possibly withdrawing 2000 in cash.
That's the full balance. It's the lloyds tsb duo avios credit card. It says on my letter 27.95% p.a for cash withdrawals.

I have no idea what this means?

Can anyone please please help explain to me how much I would be paying monthly in interest on £2000 withdrawn.

(It's not a frivolous payment it's for a house deposit.)

New CC for Wife who nows works P/T

My wife has a CC and the interest free period has expired.

She was in full time employment when she applied for the car but now only works P/T with a substantial drop in salary.

We now want to apply for an alternative card and transfer the balance to a new car so as to utilise other interest free purchases and transfers.

Do you guys think she will be accepted on the basis that she no longer earns the same salary she used to or is it irrelevant?

thanks for help in advance

Am just wondering first how long does it take to get your card after you have showed your ID in your local branch? am already a customer with NW as I have a flex account with them.

Secondly can you still get rejected after showing your ID? if so why?

does agreed in principle mean you will get your card providing ID checks out?

Lastly when you apply on-line do they do credit checks hence agreed in principle?

thanks guys!

Barclaycard zero limit, full interest rates.

With Barclaycard 10 year+ with £11,500.00 limit, maxed most of time, over limit since 2008, I have been paying minimum most months since. Barclaycard have not renewed my CC and say my limit is zero but I still owe £11,00.00.
Should I still be paying extortionate CC interest rate when I do not get CC service?
Must have paid well over debt to Barclaycard by now.

If you got defaults and poor score do you get rejected straight away

Say if someone has defaults and poor credit rating on their file, does that mean you get rejected by any bank when applying for credit cards?

Are debts and defaults wiped off after 7 years?

$

Is it also true that if debts are wiped off from your file then you start to get offers to fill out for credit cards?

and if you still had defaults, debt agencies and poor rating then you tend to get an instant decline from any banks and credit card companies?

if I got a limit of £1,000 on my Capital One card does that mean any defaults and debts I had are wiped from my file?

ok, so my interest free is due to end in april and i need to work out how ill pay the interest back

its 18.9%, so i know thats split over the 12 months

my question is...do i pay my minimum fee (say 2.25% i think it is) and interest is added to the balance thats left, which i pay 2.25% of next month, or do i pay the 2.25% each month as WELL as (18.9%/12)?

thats gonna fair add up!

Residential Status?

Hello,

I'm in the middle of doing some financial spring cleaning, and I'm looking at applying for another credit card, so I can do a balance transfer and move it onto a cheaper rate and clear it completely.

I'm not sure what to put for my residential status on the application, as the house and mortgage are in my husband's name.
In a previous job I used to do finance applications, and I was advised by the finance company we used to put 'private tenant', when I came across a similar thing putting through an application, but in that case it was for an unmarried co-habiting couple.

I'm assuming I would need to do the same, but I'm not sure!

Does anyone know?

Thank you!

I have received the Mbna card one month ago. I haven't activated it.
Will they eventually close the account or should I activate the card and hope that they will close the account if I don't use it?

Will sub prime lenders give a 0% offer?

$

I was considering asking Aqua for reduced or 0% offer to make a large purchase to spread the cost over 4-6 months and was wondering if they offer these types of deals as they are a sub prime lender.

I currently have the funds available in cash but don't really want to wipe out a huge chunk of my savings and store credit is not likely to be granted to me due to past credit history.

I have 6K total in savings and are looking to spend around 2.5K but I am also saving for a deposit to buy a home in the future. The purchase would be for a family xmas treat so its not essential but is desired:)

Should I:-

1. Should I buy outright and take the hit on savings.
2. Pay 1K and put the rest on aqua at 34% and pay off over 4 months.
3. Ask aqua for a 0% offer and pay over 6 months.
4. Not make the purchase at all.

All opinions and advice welcome.
