bank of scotland credit card

Have been working for a while on my credit rating and finally have no defaults, no ccjs,

What id like to know is that every time i apply for credit card with Bank of Scotland, it gets declined.
Id really like one with them as they are my bank, I already have overdrafts of £2400, £1000 and £100.

I have 4 credit cards with Vanquis, Aqua Capital ONe and Barclaycard.
However these were to build my credit rating, and if i were to get a mainstream card, i would cancel these.
none of them have a balance and according to creditexpert, I am using 8% of my available credit.

I moved house 8 months ago and am on the electoral role

Is there any chance i would be better going into a branch and sopeaking to them personally to ask for a credit card or is it all an automated decision now?

Re-appeal Nationwide Credit Card decline? Building credit with Sub Prime cards?

Got accepted for Capital One and Aqua, waiting for a call from Vanquis, and Barclaycard Initial need more info

I applied with Nationwide first whom I've banked with for 8 years. Their system came up with an immediate decline message. I appealed it over the phone and the chap said oh that's odd there are no reasons for the decline, I'll look into this for you and ring you with a decision. Well today (3 days later) I get a letter stating they have considered but still declining me and there are "no specific reasons for this" - I thought that was against some terms or other? I told them over the phone there is nothing on my experian report (the decline screen had told me to look, indicating that my credit file was at fault), but that I have a confirmation letter from my council showing I'm on the electoral roll if they need that. They said no it should be fine. So what the hell is that about? Can I appeal again?

Just want to build up a good credit report by 2016 to apply for a mortgage.

Right now on my file I have 2 BT accounts, an OUSBA loan for £2,400 (now only £340 as not continuing the course), my Nationwide account, and a mobile phone account.

Thanks

Confused with which card I can get?

Hopefully this will be the last question I need to ask in relation to credit cards, fingers crossed.

I did a soft search and had back chances of 90% M&S card, 80% Tesco card, 70% capital one/capital one plus/luma.

Now I have no debt, and besides an unused credit account which was settled and my current account, I have had a store card account which I have had around 10 years but only used once. I earn an average wage.

Baring this in mind, I can't really see that I am likely to get the M&S as I have read it's hard to obtain? No idea why it would give me a 90% chance for it. And again for the Tesco card, I have such limited history except the store card account which is never used, I'm struggling to see how it's given me an 80% chance especially as their limits start at £2500 it seems a large sum for someone who doesn't have much of a history?

I don't want to waste my applications as I'm eager to build up a good credit history to get a mortgage, and ideally the M&S or Tesco ones would be great for stoozing in my case but I'm worried if I apply for them and get rejected then the likes of capital one would turn their noses up at me, and of course you cant use them for stoozing but can build up a good credit history with them.

I'm confused about the best way to go about this really. Which card would I best be going for in my situation? I just don't want to obliterate my chances by applying stupidly. TIA

Credit Card Foreign Exchange Rates

Hi,
I am looking for a credit card to use abroad. I have seen the MSE recommendations for suitable cards. They are all fee free. However I can't see anywhere that shows the conversion rates used by the card companies.
My question is, on a given day, if I spend $100 will that equate to the same amount in £ on any credit card or do they all have different rates? In other words do they work like buying foreign exchange with outlets offering different rates?
Its good to go fee free but if they charge a higher rate for the conversion this could result in a worse overall deal.

Advice on Best way forward?

I have unfortunately maximised my Credit Card which has a Credit limit of £2000. (£1999.30)

What is going to happen to me? The card is with Vanquis.

My next statement is due on the 13th March and therefore I am currently in good standing with my account, because i paid of fin full last time. The current statement says I owe nothing.

However since then have maximised the card and I will not be able to make the payment for the next statement which will actually be due to be paid by 10th April. I have until then to find a way of sorting this....looking doubtful.

I usually pay off in full every month, however due to unforeseen circumstances I am unable to pay this off at all, and not sure when I'll ever be able to.

I am a Housewife and do not work, my Husband is on a low income and we have two children.

My first Question is, considering I am unemployed can they chase me for this debt, or can they make my Husband pay it instead of me?

My second question is....out of desperation, I applied for another Credit Card hoping to be able to use this to pay off some of the debt. I have successfully obtained a Capital One Card for £500 and I am waiting for this to arrive. Should I do this? Or is there any other advise you can give me on best way forward with these cards?

The reality is I can't pay this, if I ignore this, what can happen to me?

Thanks in advance for you help

Can you balance transfer from the same credit card more than once?

Hello,

I have just been accepted for a natwest cc and have transferred my capital one balance to it.

What i would like to know is can you then make a purchase on the capital one card and then transfer this balance again to the new natwest cc or not?

Being honest, it would be to purchase sofas and furniture from Ikea and benefit from the 28 months interest free period of the Natwest balance transfer card rather than it only being a 6 month interest free on any purchases.

Is this doable or would Natwest go no sorry we've already paid that balance off once so we arent going to let you do that again!

Thanks

Change in Halifax Credit Card payment details

I normally pay my Halifax credit card by sending a payment from my abbey bank account. The sort code and bank account number I send the payment to are 80-20-45 and 00213765.

I received a new format of statement from Halifax this month and I noticed that there is a different sort code and bank account number to send payments to - 77-29-00 and 00000000.

Can anyone tell me if Halifax have gotten rid of the old numbers and replaced them with these ones? It just seems a bit strange as the old numbers have been used for as long as I know. I just don't want to send my payment to the wrong account!

Hi, does anyone know if this can be done? There are a few cards out there which offer significant rewards if you spend £x per annum on the card. I've heard the Airmiles Amercian Express credit card can be used for this. Does anyone have any input or experience of this?

Do Barclaycard Close your INACTIVE card (After NOt using it for Over 1 year)?

If you have a barclaycard, which is in good standing, and there is no balance, but do not use it for years, then do they automatically close it?

I am asking for barclaycard specifically (no other credit card)

-How many years of 'non usage' do they close it?

-and do they send a letter out to you with this decision? asking if you want to keep it open ?

Has this happened to you with your barclaycard, if you haven't used it for time ? What was your experience ?

Will Barclaycard offer me new credit cards in the future?

Hi there,

I'm a student at the moment and back in December I wanted to start building up my credit history.

Went in to see a personal banker at Barclays and she basically agreed to offer me a Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card with a starting limit of 250 pounds.

I was wondering if in the (near) future it is likely that I will get an offer from Barclays to get a better credit card?

What would you recommend I do?

Use this one (B. Freedom Rewards) for a year or so and then apply for something elsewhere/with Barclaycard for example?

Basically... how does one get better deals on credit cards? Is it a question of years and years on end?

Thanks!

Can anyone suggest a good place to look and apply???????

Cheating for 0%

Hello, I'm sure this isn't possible but have been wondering for a while;

Example scenario;
(assume for the sake of this example that there are no balance transfer fees)

I have £4000 balance on one card, paying 16.9% APR, this card is currently offering 0% on balance transfers for 12 months.

I have a second card with a limit of £4000, a £0 balance and no special offers on balance transfers.

My question;
Could I - in theory - transfer the £4000 from the first card to the second then back to the first card and therefore get the 0% APR for 12 months?

I'm sure there is some type of clause that would prevent this as it seems too simple.

Halifax Clarity Mastercard online banking

For some reason there appears to be increasing delays with inputting transactions on my online credit card account. This has included payments for goods and services and payments made from my current account into my Halifax Clarity credit card account. The latest delays are over a week.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

I am abroad and don't want to ring as it will cost a fortune based on the time it takes to speak to someone.

The credit outstanding figure appears to update almost immediately so the transactions are just taking a long time to be input.

Can anyone tell me what the payment due date is, if the statement date is the 6th of the month?

Applying for credit as a Landlord and a tenant

$

Hi All

I am wanting to apply for a 0% CC and during the application process it asks if you are a Homeowner or a Private tenant .. I'm currently both and not sure which one to choose.

I own a house which I have let out, and I am myself living in a rented house (for work reasons).

The house I 'own' is mortgaged, but the rental income covers this plus a bit extra, how would I factor this into any income / expenditure etc

I'm confused as to what would be the best / correct way to apply

Any advice would be greatly received
