Capital One Email & Telephone?

Hi,

I applied for a classic card and wanted to send them extra info via email (proof of electoral roll, utility bill etc) as they gave the automated message that they would take 7 days to complete further checks.. pretty much means a decline right? So I thought I'd get in there first with this info. But I can't seem to find an email address anywhere, and when I rang the (multiple) numbers on their website I get an automated message that my call can't be transferred right now and then it cuts off!

Anyone got an email address or telephone number that works for them?

Stung by credit card interest - help!

Hello,

I hope you can help, dear reader.

I got my first credit card about 3.5 years ago and am still finding the whole thing pretty confusing.

Currently I have 3 cards - Bank of Scotland (£1700 limit, £1550 to pay off, I am paying no interest on this), Marks and Spencer (£1500 limit, £1450 to pay off, 0% balance transfer has just recently ran out so I am now paying interest on this) and Barclaycard (£6500 limit, £5400 to pay off, some of which is on 0% and some - at least £3500 - is on 17.9%).

What I want to do is shift the £3500 from Barclaycard and the £1450 from M&S to another card that is 0%. But if I apply for say the new Nationwide deal I may be rejected (?) so should I take the risk?

Barclaycard are currently offering me a 0% balance transfer deal so I could transfer £1000 of the M&S card over to that. But that still leaves me paying interest on at least £3000 of the Barclaycard amount.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanking you!

Any bank offering multiple credit/debit cards?

Hi,

is there any bank that will provide multiple cards.....ideally debit cards linked to an account...otherwise credit cards?

By this I don't mean I want loads of different accounts. Just one account...but will issue multiple cards (with different card numbers obviously)...but the funding source remaining the same?

Or even, provide "virtual" cards (for use online). I read that Citibank and Bank of America provides this...but that's the States.

I need the same solution in the UK.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks :)

Best card for business?

Looking to start expanding my business by selling on Amazon, only issue is Amazon keeps hold of the money for 21 days before releasing it to an account. The problem would be that I would use the customers money to place the order, taking a fee for the service (It's called DropShipping)

My plan is to buy the goods on a credit/prepaid card, then clear the balance every month with the customers money.

Just for those that are slightly confused, here's a better example

Customer buys product of me for £5, I use that £5 to buy the product that only costs £3, keeping £2, I'd use the credit/prepaid card to buy the item costing £3 and when Amazon releases the money I would clear it with the customers £5 keeping the £2.

Hope that makes sense.

Smartest way to pay 0% Credit Card?

I have a credit card that is interest free until 12.09.16 with a balance of £2155.58.

My minimum payment for the first month is £48.50

What I want to do is pay the minimum every month but know how much to put in savings each month so when the 0% ends I will have enough left to pay it off in full.

I can get 4% gross on savings, so am I right in thinking it makes sense to save as much as I can each month and just pay the min payment to retain the 0% rate?

Paying off a card now or wait?

Hi
We have a vanquis card with a balance of £2200 at the moment and want to clear as soon as possible.
We have about £500 spare but are not sure if its worth paying this off now or paying a bit more than min payments every month until we can build up the full £2k to pay off.
Any advice would be appreciated

I am looking for some help. I am 19 and currently have a credit card with a high interest rate. Ive had it over a year, the original limit was 750 and i have around 650 left on, as you can see the interest is ridiculous. I do want to transfer to 0% but wonder what the catch is. Also the fee say for example 3% does that just get added to my new balance on the 0% card and does anyone have any recommendations for me as when i did the test on here i had poor chances, i can only assume as i dont have much of a credit score?

Please help

M&S Credit card application asks for bank details for credit check?

I'm sorry if this seems obvious, or is common, but looking at the credit card application for the M&S credit card it asks near the end for your bank details (account and sort code) 'for credit checks'.

I'm confused, does this mean they want to access my bank account to check through my transactions with a fine toothcomb? Or is it a bog standard question on applications?

I don't remember on previous card applications in the past whether this to be a normal thing and to be honest it's not very clear what they want my account and sort code for? Is it just to make sure I am who I say I am so it can be cross checked with my credit history?

If anyone knows I would be very grateful

Hi,

Help with building credit... Do i need a credit card?

Hello wondering if anyone has any advice for me, would be greatly appreciated.

I have not been in the UK for about 7.5 years. I studied in America and worked there after graduating. I got married last year and have moved back to the UK to be with my wife. Both of us are English.

I now have a very high paying director role with a company I have been with for 10 years (transferred to the UK HQ). Alongside this I am also self employed.

I was able to open a basic RBS account before we got married last year which has now been upgraded to a standard current account with savings. I have had this for about 8 months. It was opened at the same time as my wife found us a flat in London.

My name is on all the bills (Gas, Electrictry, Broadband and Phone) which have been open for about 8 months. Was recommended to check Experian and Equifax i do this each month. I have never missed any payments of course no CCJs etc and all my accounts are in good order.

Experian has 3 red flags for me shown below:

1) The age of your accounts indicates lenders are likely to view you as higher risk
2) You have revolving credit that has been open for less than 10 months.
3) You have no successfully settled credit account

My major issue is trying to get a credit card. I apply for only one every 3/4 months and as of yet no one is willing to give me a chance. Not even my Bank and they can see how much gets deposits monthly from my regular work and self employed earnings. It's a large sum plus the several thousands we have in savings.

No idea how I build credit maybe I don't need a credit card and all I need is patience? It's highly frustrating knowing your not reckless or a risk but being treated as such...

Anyone have any tips or perhaps recommend a card I can try in maybe 4/5 months as I have just been rejected again after waiting 5 months to apply again... :(

Cashback instead of Cash withdrawals

Hi all,

I have just taken out a credit card for the first time. I am only ever intending to use it for emergencies, however I have a credit limit of £3,000 and a cash withdrawal limit of £900.

As well as this, as I expect with all cards, a cash withdrawal brings with it a 2.5% charge, with a minimum fee of £2.50.

Therefore I was wondering if it was possible to do the following to get around the cash withdrawal limit/charge if needs be:

If I was to pop into Morrisons or the Post Office, and I was to buy a stamp or newspaper, which I paid for on my credit card, if i was to then get say £20 cashback within that transaction, would the credit card company be able to track this, and therefore separate the transactions as a purchase and a cash withdrawal, or would they deem it as a £20 something pound purchase from Morrisons/Post Office, with it then going against the £3,000 limit and being at 0%?

Thanks for any help.

Credit Card for Home Improvement

Hello,

I've just had an offer accepted on a house. I have a mortgage in principle which lasts another 10 weeks and I'm told there won't be another credit check when I complete the application as they'll use the one they did for the MiP.

The house I'm buying does need some work doing to it. Most of the savings I have readily available will be swallowed by the deposit and fees when I purchase the house. I have about £5K savings locked away which I will gain access to in January 2015. My thought was that I would apply for a 0% credit card which would have no more than a £5K limit, pay the minimum off the balance during the year and then pay off the balance when my savings mature.

My question is, when should I apply for the card? Should I do it now, when I've been in my current house for 2 years etc., or should I do it when I am in the new house? My worry is that having just moved, I might not be approved or would be considered 'riskier'? Of course I'm also worried that if I apply too soon (before the mortgage is officially approved) then an extra credit check for a credit card might cause me problems.

I do already have a credit card I've had years (pay the balance off each month) but this isn't a 0% card.

Any advice/experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

Compare What overdraft is costing me to Credit card

$

Hi there,

I find it complicated how the overdraft interest rate is calculated - what I want to do is determine which is costing me the most per month: my credit card(s) or my overdraft so that I can decide which to pay off first:

Does anyone know how to calculate this?

Overdraft fees are as follows:
AER%: 2.00%
Gross p.a%: 1.98%
Net p.a. %: 1.59%

PLUS

£6.00 usage fee

My credit cards range from 15.94% to 26.00%

Reclaiming Money For Lost Oyster Card

$

Hello all. New user here, so I apologise if this is in the wrong forum.

I've just had an email saying that my Oyster card has been auto-topped up with my credit card. This surprised me given that I haven't used it for about a week!

I've just checked my wallet and, sure enough, its not there. I must have dropped it while out and about. Some !!!!!!! has obviously picked it up and used about £40 worth of credit before I've noticed.

I know that credit card providers cover some instances of loss such as goods bought online not being delivered etc, but is this the type of thing they would cover? I do have home contents insurance which covers my belongings away from the home, but this has a £100 compulsory excess.

Many thanks!

Laura Ashley 'Interest free' store card mistake

$

So

on new years day my wife and I purchased a £2k sofa from Laura ashley. We intended to pay for it on credit card on an interest free offer.

The pleasant young lady who served us told us that if we took out a store card then not only would it be interest free 'for life' as long as we paid the minimum payment, but we would also get 10% discount. Great.

We got the store card, got the discount and then 6 weeks later got the first bill. No interest free. In fact the first bill included a £65 interest charge, with another £35 interest on its way. Over a year we intend to pay it back, thats quite a nice chunk of eye-watering interest.

We rang them up and they just stone-walled us. I will go back to the store and complain. I hunted out the original agreement we signed and yup, there's like a 25% APR on there. Obviously i will pay it off straight away now, but it will leave us with around £95 in interest that we were told we wouldn't have to pay.

Is this common practise to scam people this way? Its not that much of a charge, but really, the principle of the thing gets to me that they could just get away with this.

Any advice?

Hi,my first post...I need to ask...I need to borrow £2000 for roof repairs...can anyone recommended a low rate loan or do I borrow on my credit card where I can later shift debt to another 0% card, but told there is a 26.9% per annum...not good on maths...so what would this mean payback wise? I know there would probably be a fee for borrowing aswell...any help greatly appreciated! :(

Applying for CC with previous debt?

Hi everyone, I had a few bad credit c/c's a few years ago when I hit bad times and never paid them off. Would you know if it is possible to re-apply to them again? They were about 4/5 years ago and I am not sure if they would still have a record (seriously hoping here!) or whether the old debts are filed away 'out of site', so to speak. Many thanks in advance for any help/advice offered.
