what is my income for a credit card on bennafits

hi,please could someone tell me if i was going to make a application for a credit card at my bank to start to improve my score,for when i go back to work in a few months,because i would like to, after working for a few months apply for a small mortgage ,so im planning ahead,i have good credit and when i apply , im not sure what to class as my income,,,

is housing benefit classed as a income because on the government site it states its a non tax income,,but i doubt the bank would think so?

thanks for looking and before you all benefit bash me at least im trying to get off them even though i do have a genuine illness that could keep me in simular money as working but i dont want them and want to work and have my own little flat,thank you for looking
