Can my wifes irresponsible behaviour with money affect my credit standing?
She has no income of her own and is running up credit card debt that she cannot possibly repay. I was amazed that she was even able to get a card in the first place but she did last October. She got another one a couple of weeks ago, has run it up to its limit and is now applying all over for bad credit credit cards.
I told her when she got the Barclaycard that I had no intention of bailing her out when she got into a mess. I have been there, done that for the last 20 years but not anymore. In the past she has stolen from all sorts of places and people and cannot manage any finances at all. Her philosophy is if they are stupid enough to give her the credit than it should be spent, all of it and boy can she do that.
I know when she is making new applications because it flags up an alert on my Experian report as a financial association. Am I correct in believing that her irresponsible actions should not impact on my credit worthiness, or do I need to be sending letters to disassociate myself from her financially?
